(FORT WORTH, TX) – The upcoming mid-term elections will be the final time Texas voters can cast straight party-ticket ballots.

In 2017, State lawmakers passed a bill, signed by Governor Greg Abbott, to eliminate the straight party ballot option in the 2020 elections.  Legislators hope the measure will help lure Independent voters in cities like Dallas, Houston and San Antonio, where Blue and Red lines seem to be more blurred.

In 2016, Texas led the nation in straight-party voting.  Many North Texas elections officials are preparing for increased wait times down the road, as it will take more time to vote.
