Hazardous Weather Forecast For North Texas

(FORT WORTH, TX) – North Texas, is under a hazardous weather outlook.

The National Weather Service says widespread thunderstorms are expected to affect the area today and tonight. Damaging winds will be the main threat, but an isolated tornado or hail are possible.  Heavy rainfall could result in flash flooding or minor river flooding.

With heavy storms expected to pound most of North Texas today, road crews from TxDOT and the City of Fort Worth spent last night and this morning monitoring potential flooding hotspots and preparing for the worst.  There have been 4 deaths in Tarrant County linked to flash flooding in the last five weeks.

TxDOT wants to remind drivers that if you see standing water on the roadway, it’s best to turn around, don’t drown.
