(Fort Worth, TX) – Fort Worth police have come up with a way to fight of the dreaded holiday “porch pirates”.

The department has kicked off “Operation Grinch Pinch”, a baited package program that involves GPS tracking to nab package thieves.  Fort Worth Police say select community volunteers who have home surveillance systems can participate without having to divulge that they are cooperating with law enforcement.  Officers will place the GPS baited package on your front porch, with the intention of the package being visible from the street and wait for the package thief to grab it.  FWPD’s Electronic Surveillance Unit will track the package and arrest the thief.
