(Tioga, TX) – As we prepare to lay to rest a former President today, a Country music legend who once performed for President George H.W. Bush is remembering him fondly.

Randy Travis and his wife live in Tioga, here in North Texas.  Travis says although he was extremely nervous, he would never forget performing at the Presidential Inaugural Gala in 1989.  Travis also participated in the President’s “Thousand Points of Light” campaign back in 1991.  He issued a statement this past weekend, saying “the country lost a great American hero,” and that he was blessed to be a part of the President George Bush, Sr.’s Thousands Points of Light initiative.

Mary Travis says Bush was a great American and the personified greatness.  She also says Bush is where he wants to be because he’ll get to celebrate Christmas with Barbara Bush.
