(Houston, TX) — Local officials are planning for big crowds along the route of the train that will take President George H.W. Bush on his final journey today.

Union Pacific engine 4141 pulls away from Spring about 1:15 this afternoon for the 70-mile trip to the president’s library on the campus of Texas A&M.  Road closures and traffic control are planned in Magnolia, Navasota, and College Station, where the train is expected to arrive at around 3:45.

Country singer Reba McEntire, who developed a friendship with the late president, performed “The Lord’s Prayer” at this morning’s service in Houston.  The group the Oak Ridge Boys sang “Amazing Grace”.
