Joey Logano had only one thing on his mind in the closing laps at Martinsville, advancing to the Championship Four. He does that at the expense of Martin Truex Jr., bumping the reigning series champion out of the way in the final turn to claim the checkered flag in the First Data 500. Truex had taken the lead from Logano only one lap earlier after a late race battle between the two contenders. The victory for Logano means he has guaranteed himself a chance to race for the Cup Series championship for the third time in the five years of the elimination format to the playoffs.
