(Fort Worth, TX)  —  The Fort Worth Police Officers Association believes Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald purposefully rushed an investigation into a now-fired rookie officer, so she couldn’t appeal.

Union President Manny Ramirez told reporters Officer Lina Mino [[ LEE-nah MEE-noh ]] had just 7 hours left in her probationary period when Fitzgerald fired her last week.  Ramirez says Mino was let go after accidentally firing at a fleeing suspect’s car over a week ago.  No one was hurt and the suspect was arrested following a standoff.  Ramirez says internal investigations tend to take 90 days to complete, but Fitzgerald completed his investigation in five.

Mino cannot appeal her firing because she was technically still on probation.
