(Weatherford, Tx) – The City of Weatherford is taking steps to move forward on plans for a pipeline to bring water to city customers.

The Weatherford Democrat reports the City Council approved a resolution this week to authorize the filing of eminent domain proceedings on property the city is trying to obtain for easements to build the pipeline.  The city says the purpose of obtaining the easements is for the “construction and maintenance of a reclaimed water pipeline across the property from the water reclamation facility to Lake Weatherford”.

According to city officials, the pipeline project will pump treated effluent water into Lake Weatherford, ultimately reducing the need to purchase water from Lake Benbrook during times of drought.
