(Fort Worth, TX) — A court order is delaying a plan to end life support for a nine-month-old girl who was born prematurely with a rare heart defect at Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth.

Tinslee Lewis needs a feeding tube and a ventilator to survive.  After a number of surgeries, Doctors concluded that her health won’t improve and she’s suffering needlessly.  Under Texas law, the family had ten days, starting October 31st, to find another hospital to care for the girl.  After 19 other hospitals nationwide agreed with the prognosis, the hospital was set to pull the ventilator on Sunday.

A court has granted the family a temporary restraining order.  A hearing is scheduled for next week.
