(Fort Worth, TX)  —  A former Fort Worth cop could spend ten years in prison for perjury.

Officer Jon Romer was convicted on Wednesday by a Tarrant County jury.  Prosecutors say Romer lied to a grand jury about punching a man while he was working an off-duty security job in 2016.  They also say Romer didn’t tell the man he was under arrest until tossing him to the ground.

Romer will be sentenced next year.  After his conviction, the Fort Worth PD fired Romer.  He still faces charges of filing a false report and official oppression.
