J.C. Penney Plans To Close Six More Stores

(Dallas, TX)  —  J.C. Penney will close six stores by the end of April, but none of them are in Texas.

A spokeswoman for the Plano-based company says the closures are based on the retailer’s annual review of store performance.  The company is closing stores in Montana, South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, and New York.  In addition, J.C. Penney will shut down a Kansas call center, but not a major distribution center in the same town.

There were more than 11-hundred Penney’s stores ten years ago.  Today there are fewer than 900.
