(Fort Worth, TX) — A religious event is in progress at the convention center in downtown Fort Worth, and Tarrant County officials are powerless to stop it.

The Southwest Believers’ Convention, featuring televangelist Kenneth Copeland, will last this entire week.  Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley says he’s worried about a large gathering during the pandemic, and isn’t sure participants are wearing masks or social distancing.

Gov. Greg Abbott’s executive order protects the event and other religious gatherings.
