(Granbury, Tx) – Hood County authorities are urging people not to touch or handle wild animals, because they may be infected with rabies.
This after a rabid bat was found late last month on the Fall Creek Hwy near N. Gate Rd in Acton. Hood County Animal Control says they got a call about a grounded bat that was acting abnormally. Animal Control captured the bat and it was submitted for rabies testing to the Texas Department of State Health Services. The results of the test found the bat to be positive for the rabies virus.
So far in 2020 there have been a total of 18 animals that have tested positive for the rabies virus in Hood County.
