(Frisco, TX) — A 14-year-old from North Texas is the winner of a $25,000 prize for creating a potential coronavirus treatment.
Anika Chebrolu is an eighth-grader at Nelson Middle School in Frisco. She won the 3M Young Scientist Challenge for discovering a drug that may help treat patients with the virus. Chebrolu decided to participate in the contest after she had a severe case of the flu last winter.
She originally intended to try to find a cure for the flu, but then the coronavirus came to town, and she changed her focus.
