Here are some of the local results for North Texas area elections:

Johnson County:

Cleburne Mayor Scott Cain secured his fifth term in office handily beating two opponents

Burleson has a new Mayor as incumbent Ken Shetter lost to challenger Chris Fletcher who had 61% of the vote.  Shetter had been the Burleson Mayor since 2004

Palo Pinto County:

Mineral Wells Councilmember Ward 3 Beth Watson held on to her seat, defeating challenger Brandon Johnson with 99% of votes

In the city of Gordon Mayor’s race, with 59% of the vote, Jack Coleman defeated J.R. Henderson

Parker County:

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler will remain at his job for another term after receiving 84% of the votes against Libertarian Russell Hess

Aledo Mayor Kit Marshall won re-election over challenger Shane Davis

District 61 State Rep Phil King of Weatherford will return to the Texas House, defeating democrat Christopher Cox

Somervell County:

Tarrant County:

Tarrant County Sheriff Bill Weybourn was reelected by beating democratic challenger Vance Keyes

Fort Worth ISD voters approved a tax increase with Proposition A

Congressional:

Incumbent U.S. Rep. Roger Williams defeated Democratic challenger Julie Oliver in the race for Texas’ 25th Congressional District with 56% of the vote.  The district includes Johnson, Somervell, Hill, Hamilton and parts of Erath County.

Longtime Rep Kay Granger of Fort Worth has been re-elected to Congress from District 12, defeating challenger Lisa Welch with 64%

Marc Veasey (D-Fort Worth) and Michael Burgess (R-Denton) were also re-elected to Congress, while former Rep. Pete Sessions found a new home in a Waco-based district.

US District 11 winner Republican August Pfluger over Democrat Jon Mark Hogg.  The district includes Hood, Eastland, Palo Pinto and parts of Erath County

(Washington, DC)  —  Republican Ronny Jackson is the winner in the race to represent Texas’ 13th Congressional district in the House.  Jackson was President Trump’s former chief physician and onetime nominee for Veterans Affairs secretary.  Jackson defeated Democratic nominee Gus Trujillo and Libertarian candidate Jack Westbrook.  District 13 covers parts of North Texas, including Wichita Falls.

State Races:

Cornyn Defeats Hegar In Senate Race In Texas

(Austin, TX)  —  Republican John Cornyn is the winner of the Senate race in Texas.  The incumbent defeated Democratic challenger MJ Hegar.  Cornyn has been serving in the chamber since 2003.  The last time Texas elected a Democrat to the Senate was in 1988.

Democrats Fail To Capture Majority In Texas House

(Austin, TX)  —  When the Texas Legislature convenes in 2021, it will still have a Republican majority.  Democrats failed to pick up the nine seats they needed in Tuesday’s elections.  But it looks like they’ll keep most of the 12 districts they flipped in 2018.  The Texas House has been Republican-led since 2002.  In the session that starts in January, Texas legislators will redraw the state’s political boundaries based on new data from the 2020 census.

Wright Defeats Castaneda For Seat On Texas Railroad Commission

(Austin, TX) — Republican James Wright is the winner over Democrat rival Chrysta Castaneda for one of the three seats on the Texas Railroad Commission.  As of late Tuesday, Wright led Castaneda by 53-to-43-percent of the vote. The three-member board regulates the state’s oil and gas industry.  Wright is an oil and gas businessman.  Castaneda is a Dallas-area lawyer whose campaign drew support from the Sierra Club and New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg.
