(Arlington, TX) — The Texas Rangers are responding to criticism over Monday’s home opener before a near-capacity crowd.

More than 38-thousand fans were in the stands at Globe Life Field for the game against the Blue Jays.  It was the first pro sports event during the pandemic to open at 100%.  Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja grumbled at the Rangers on Tuesday.  The team say the crowds at the games over the next two nights were less than 50% capacity.

The Rangers say they’re following state pandemic guidelines and are sticking to the reopening plan they announced last month.
