(Parker County, Tx) – A Millsap man was arrested in connection with an animal cruelty investigation.

Parker County Sheriff Russ Authier said a concerned citizen contacted the sheriff’s office about a severely injured dog on Wilson Bend Road back on March 17th.

Sheriff’s deputies and animal control officers discovered a mixed-breed brown and white dog at the home.  The dog was bleeding from a broken arrow impaled through its left side.  A resident at the home, 24-year-old Dakota Shane Dearman told investigators that the dog was barking around 3am and frustrated he shot an arrow in its direction, then heard the dog yelp.  Dearman was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of cruelty to non-livestock animals. He was later released on a $15,000 bond.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the dog was immediately taken to a local veterinarian, but it’s unknown if it will fully recover.
