(Austin, TX) — This year’s Texas legislative session is now over, and the state is not much closer to legalizing marijuana than it was before the session started.

A bill that fractionally expands the state’s medical marijuana program was approved, but only after the measure was weakened from its original version, which marijuana advocates already considered to be not enough.  Several other cannabis-related proposals also came up short.

These include legalizing weed for adult recreational use, and reducing the penalty for possession of small amounts to the equivalent of a traffic ticket.
