(Austin, TX) — The operators of the Texas power grid say they’re ready for the heart of the summer, which starts next week.

Brad Jones, who heads the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, says they’ve fixed problems that have plagued the system.  Jones didn’t rule out calls for conservation, like the one last month that surprised Texans following February’s deep freeze.  For the first time in Texas, summer weatherization checks are being done on the generators that went down.

Jones says ERCOT is bringing more generation online, and it will be available at the peak hours.
