(Weatherford, Tx) – Parker County Commissioners have issued an Emergency Declaration banning the use of fireworks over the July 4th holiday.

Due to severe drought conditions and the chance for wildfires, the county says from now through July 5th, it is illegal for anyone to set off fireworks within Parker County.  If caught, violators are subject to a Class C misdemeanor charge and a fine of up to $1,000.

Officials say the emergency order does not prohibit the sale of fireworks, only the discharge, and will not affect the public fireworks shows in Weatherford or Hudson Oaks.

There is currently a 60 day Burn Ban in Parker County through late August.
