(Weatherford, Tx) – The Parker County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a 5 year old child.

The Sheriff’s Office said it happened just after 9:00 Tuesday night at a home on Woodie Way near White Settlement Road in Northeast Parker County.  According to a press release, the 5-year-old victim was playing with another child in a bedroom when an adult in another room heard the gunshot and found the wounded child.  The adult told investigators that there was a 9mm handgun in a dresser of the master bedroom and the magazine had been removed for safety.

The child was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.

The victim has not been identified as the case is still under investigation.
