(Austin, Tx) – The Texas Parks & Wildlife Department warns holiday lake goers that Game Wardens will be on heightened alert during the July 4th weekend as part of Operation Dry Water.

Law enforcement officers will be focused on deterring boating under the influence of drugs or alcohol and basic safety precautions on the water.  BUI is a leading cause of fatal boating accidents.

Last year, wardens arrested 42 people for Boating While Intoxicated (BWI) over the 4th of July weekend.
