(Fort Worth, TX) — Tarrant County is now under a disaster declaration because of the threat of wildfires.
County Judge Glen Whitley signed the declaration in response to severe drought conditions that have increased the threat of wildfires in the county. The judge’s declaration frees up resources to help county officials fight wildfires if they happen. This summer’s triple-digit temperatures have combined with dry conditions to create the dangerous situation.
Recent fires have been started accidentally by such activities as cooking, mowing and trash left in an open container.
