(Parker County, Tx) – A Millsap man is in jail after going out of town and leaving his dogs outside in the blazing heat with little water.

The Parker County Sheriff’s Office said a neighbor reported seeing the distressed dogs and called Animal Control.  A welfare check on the Fairview Lane property found three dogs in kennels in direct sunlit with no shade.  One of the dogs was already dead with no water inside its kennel. Two other dogs were in distress with little water available.  The owner of the dogs was identified as 38 year old Levi Tenbrink, who told deputies he tried to find some tarp before leaving but couldn’t.

The surviving dogs were taken to a local veterinarian where they underwent treatment for heat exhaustion and dehydration.  It was determined the other dog died from heat stroke and dehydration.

Tenbrink has been charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals.
