BigXthaPlug — real name is Xavier Landum – was arrested on Thursday, August 21, 2025 on charges of possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm.  The arrest came hours after the release his country-inspired new album, I Hope You’re Happy. The latest legal incident marks Landum’s second arrest in North Texas this year, following a previous arrest in February 2025 on a marijuana possession charge.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, officers pulled the 26-year-old over around 8:45 p.m. for “not having a front license plate pulling out of Williams Chicken” in Dallas. Police allegedly found two firearms and a small amount of marijuana in Landum’s truck, and also found his name in the NCIC gang database, which makes it a misdemeanor for him to possess a firearm in Texas.

Landum was released from the Dallas County jail after appearing before a judge and posting a $5,000 bond. His attorney, Valerie Baston, told reporters: “We are going to fight robustly for our client because it just is what it is. It’s two misdemeanors, and they are trying to make it a felony.”

The rapper was scheduled to attend an album release party for I Hope You’re Happy on Thursday nigh at the Cash Cow bar in Deep Ellum; a second album release party at a Wing Stop location on Friday night was canceled.  The new album features 11 tracks and collaborations with some of country music’s biggest names, including Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Darius Rucker, Shaboozey, Thomas Rhett and Ella Langley.
