The defending State Champion Aledo Bearcats baseball team defeated El Paso Americas 3-2 and 11-4 with a doubleheader sweep in the Class 5A Division 1 Regional Finals at Midland Legacy High School. The Bearcats now improve to 27-3 on the season as they advance to the state semifinals next week. Aledo will face either Melissa or McKinney North with the series schedule to be determined.
Congrats to Coach Heather Myers and the Aledo Ladycats softball team who are headed to the Class 5A Division 1 State Finals after a thrilling win Wednesday over Melissa 5-4 at Denton High School in a one-game winner-take-all playoff. The Ladycats were underdogs and were beaten last year by Melissa to end their season.
Aledo is now 30-11 and will face No. 4 Barbers Hall (39-5) for the state title at 4pm on Friday, May 29th at Red & Charline McCombs Field in Austin.
