GRANBURY, TX. (Hood County News) –  A candidate running for a seat on the Granbury school board has pulled out of the race, after questions arose as to whether he met the residency requirement to run.

The Hood County News reports Don Hooper withdrew yesterday morning, the day after former Democratic Party Chair Robert Vick sent letters to GISD and election officials, claiming Hooper did not meet the six-month residency requirement.  Vick’s letters state that Hooper claims a homestead exemption on a property in Fort Bend County.

Hooper says he has long maintained two homes, one of which is in Hood County, and that he mistakenly thought he was eligible to run.
