(Weatherford, Tx) – Rumors fueled by social media posts that a militant BLM group was on its way to Weatherford to protest the Confederate monument, drew more than 200 people around the Parker County Courthouse on Saturday.

According to the Weatherford Democrat, many of those that showed up were from out of town and many carried weapons.  There was a heavy police presence, with members of the Weatherford PD, Parker County Sheriff’s Office and Texas DPS on scene.  Barricades surrounded the courthouse lawn and some side streets were blocked off.

By Saturday afternoon, no protesters showed up.  Earlier in the week the groups Enough is Enough Fort Worth and Parker County Progressives posted on social media that they had no plans to protest.
