(Denton, TX) — A horse is back on all fours after Denton County Fire Department officials and volunteers rescued it from being stuck in the mud on Sunday.
Fire crews responded around 7 a.m. on Sunday to a report of a large Belgian Draft horse lying on its side in the mud and unable to get up. They weren’t able to pull the horse free with ropes, but a winch finally did the job.
A veterinarian was on the scene to assist. The horse is with its owners and is recovering with IV fluids, food and water.
A firefighter suffered a slight knee injury during the rescue operation.
