(Cleburne, Tx) – Johnson County officials issued a Disaster Declaration Wednesday, prohibiting the use of fireworks.

The declaration will last for 60 hours or up to seven days if extended by the Governor.  A statement posted on the Johnson County Facebook page says the declaration bans the use of fireworks (except for licensed professional fireworks displays sponsored by municipalities).  The Cleburne Chamber of Commerce also posted that the city’s fireworks show will be a go, “They will be shot off the dam at Lake Pat Cleburne at dark on Monday evening by licensed professionals. As always, the fire department will be standing by.”

Other counties with firework bans include Parker, Hood and Tarrant.  The Wise County Fire Marshal posted on Facebook that the county’s current burn ban included the use of fireworks.  Wichita County currently has a burn ban in effect, but according to the Sheriff’s Office, it does not prohibit the use of fireworks.
